About the Pantry

The Glen Ed Pantry is an ecumenical agency governed by a Board of Directors representing 18 different churches within Edwardsville and Glen Carbon. The Glen Ed Pantry was established in 1980. It is staffed by more than 500 volunteers annually, and serves approximately 300 families each month.

The Glen-Ed Pantry service area consists of the communities and areas served by the Edwardsville Community School District #7. Clients must live in the Edwardsville School Districts # 7 in Madison County, Illinois. 

The Glen Ed Pantry's facilities, equipment and food storage are inspected annually by: Madison County Health Department, St. Louis Area Foodbank, Illinois Department of Human Services and United States Department of Agriculture.

The Glen Ed Pantry is funded by: Greater St. Louis United Way, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and local donations of cash, food and supplies.

Christmas Food Box and Gift Events

Christmas Food Boxes will be available for pickup on Tues., December 17, from 9-11:30am. (For information on donating food for boxes, see Needed Items.)

Christmas Gift Shopping for parents to choose from donated gifts for their children will be on Mon., December 16 from 3-5:30pm and Tues., December 17 from 9am-11:30am.

Clients must register for these events and can do so at the pantry during regular hours.

Christmas Gift Donations
The Children's Gift Drive is in full swing! We are preparing a shopping area at the pantry filled with donated gifts for clients to choose gifts for their children. We still need these suggested gift items:
  • teen boy gifts: cologne, bodycare sets, tools, car care
  • teen clothing and accessories
  • gift cards to WalMart, Target, TJ Maxx, Glik's, Visa
Please drop off gift donations by Noon, Saturday December 14. As always, thank you for your continued support of area families in need!
