About the Pantry

The Glen Ed Pantry is an ecumenical agency governed by a Board of Directors representing 18 different churches within Edwardsville and Glen Carbon. The Glen Ed Pantry was established in 1980. It is staffed by more than 500 volunteers annually, and serves approximately 300 families each month.

The Glen-Ed Pantry service area consists of the communities and areas served by the Edwardsville Community School District #7. Clients must live in the Edwardsville School Districts # 7 in Madison County, Illinois. 

The Glen Ed Pantry's facilities, equipment and food storage are inspected annually by: Madison County Health Department, St. Louis Area Foodbank, Illinois Department of Human Services and United States Department of Agriculture.

The Glen Ed Pantry is funded by: Greater St. Louis United Way, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and local donations of cash, food and supplies.

Needed Items

Food Drive Requests
Here are some of the items that are most frequently asked for and we are frequently low on:
  • Cream soups: celery, broccoli, others
  • cake mixes: yellow and devils food
  • icing: chocolate and vanilla
  • Pancake mix and syrup
  • vegetables = asparagus
  • canned fruit - all
  • flour and sugar
  • coffee
  • ketchup, mustard
  • salt, pepper
  • laundry and dish detergent

School Supplies 2018
  • Backpacks,
  • calculators,
  • combination locks,
  • protractors,
  • scissors,
  • colored pencils,
  • mechanical pencils,
  • and earbuds
would be MOST helpful at this point (as those are things we always run low on).

However , we always accept ALL school supplies, i.e. folders, notebooks, glue, pencils, 3-ring binders, highlighters, notecards, pens, etc.
